What are Interest Checks? Interest checks gauge community demand before a group buy is launched. No payment is required โ€” signing up just tells the organizer there's appetite for the product. If enough interest is collected, an official GB round opens with pricing, a close date, and a payment portal. Sign up to get notified when your ICs go live.

Archived GBs occasionally have extras โ€” check vendor pages for leftover stock. Shipping items may still have units available direct from the vendor.

Calendar View lays out every tracked group buy โ€” keyboards and keycap sets โ€” by the month its buy window closes, six months out. Each entry shows a mini render swatch (keycap profile or keyboard layout) so you can spot keycap-set colorways at a glance. Miss a close date and you'll likely be waiting for the next round or hunting extras.

What is a Group Buy?

Group buys (GBs) are the primary way the custom keyboard community sources limited-run products. Because custom boards and keycap sets are produced in small batches, manufacturers require a minimum order quantity (MOQ) before they'll run the production. A GB pools buyers together to hit that MOQ โ€” everyone pays upfront, waits for production, then receives their order when it ships.

The typical lifecycle has five phases. First, an Interest Check (IC) is posted on GeekHack or Reddit so the designer can gauge demand โ€” no money changes hands here. If enough interest builds, a GB round launches with a fixed price and a close date. Once the buy window ends, the organizer submits the final order to the manufacturer and the product enters Production. After manufacturing completes, units ship to a regional proxy or directly to buyers (Shipping phase). Finally, when all units have been delivered, the GB is marked Closed.
