Editorial Review
Zeal PC's Tealios V2 represents the pinnacle of what a production linear switch can be in terms of raw smoothness. When the keyboard community wants to describe how smooth a switch is, "as smooth as Tealios" has become a meaningful benchmark. The combination of a UHMWPE stem with a Polycarbonate housing, manufactured to Zeal's exacting tolerances, produces a keystroke that feels frictionless in a way most switches simply cannot match.
The Polycarbonate housing distinguishes Tealios from other UHMWPE-stem switches like the Alpaca V2. PC housing produces a brighter, more crystalline sound than Nylon — higher frequency, with a more pronounced "clack" component. Combined with the UHMWPE stem's inherent smoothness, the result is a switch that sounds bright but feels buttery — an unusual combination that many enthusiasts find irresistible.
At 67g actuation and 72g bottom-out, Tealios V2 in the standard weight are on the heavier side. The 5g spread between actuation and bottom-out mirrors the Alpaca V2 in feeling consistent throughout travel. The 67g weight is deliberate — it provides enough resistance for confident keypresses while remaining smooth enough that fatigue is minimal even during long typing sessions.
Films are essentially mandatory for Tealios if you care about the final result. The PC housing has a slight amount of stem wobble that creates an inconsistent sound floor. With TX or Deskeys films installed, the wobble disappears and the sound becomes dramatically more consistent — the difference is one of the most significant film improvements in any switch. Lube with 205g0 on rails and spring.
The price premium is real — Tealios cost more than comparable linears from JWK or Gateron. What you are paying for is Zeal's quality control, the specific PC/UHMWPE acoustic combination, and the credibility of the Zeal brand. For builders who want the smoothest production linear available and are willing to pay for it, Tealios V2 earns their price. For value-conscious builders, lubed Alpacas come close enough that the gap may not justify the cost.
