Editorial Review

Now on its fourth revision, the KBD67 Lite has become the reference point for what a genuinely good 65% board should cost. R4 brings gasket mount and QMK/VIA support down to $79 without noticeably compromising build quality versus boards costing twice as much.

The stock plate is FR4, giving a moderate flex and a slightly softer, warmer sound than aluminum-plated competitors at this price. Combined with the gasket mount, it produces a surprisingly cushioned typing feel for a budget board — one of the reasons it's a recurring recommendation for first custom builds.

Where it gives up ground to pricier competitors is exterior finish consistency (anodizing can vary slightly between units) and a stock switch selection that most buyers replace immediately. As a hotswap base for a first build, though, it's difficult to beat at this price.
