The GMMK Pro was one of the boards most responsible for bringing gasket mount, rotary knobs, and hotswap PCBs into the mainstream custom keyboard conversation. Years after launch it remains a benchmark budget-premium 75%, with a dense CNC aluminum case that feels notably heavier than its price class suggests.
Out of the box the stock plate and mount tuning lean firmer than boutique gasket implementations, but the board responds extremely well to community mods — foam, tape, and switch films transform it substantially. This mod-friendliness is a large part of why it retained relevance long after newer competitors launched.
Firmware support relies on community-maintained QMK/VIA builds rather than official Glorious tooling, which works reliably but requires flashing through the community repository rather than stock VIA — a minor extra step worth knowing about before buying if plug-and-play remapping matters to you.
